Why you need real-time visibility into connected parties

An intermediary is the connective tissue in the open finance chain, but typically has no real-time visibility into the parties connected through it -- meaning problems downstream are usually discovered after they've already caused damage, not before. Continuous monitoring closes that blind spot and replaces it with an early-warning system.

To move from blind operation to active oversight, Chief Operating Officers (COOs) should structure their approach around three connected steps:

1. Extend visibility past the direct connection: Monitor the providers connected to you, and the providers those providers connect to in turn, since traditional due diligence run once at onboarding doesn't reach that far down the chain.
2. Surface problems before they cascade: Replace periodic re-checks with continuous risk monitoring so issues are flagged while still manageable, rather than after they've cascaded upward to the banks and downward to your own connections.
3. Prove trustworthiness once, not repeatedly: Use a single accreditation to satisfy every bank and aggregator you connect to, rather than undergoing separate due diligence with each one, and hand over continuous, evidenced monitoring in place of a manual audit trail.
