Why one-time accreditation isn't enough for security

A Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) cannot secure what they cannot monitor, and a one-time accreditation check goes stale the moment it is issued -- including the moment a third party quietly begins running new Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities nobody upstream has visibility into. To move from a point-in-time check to continuous security assurance, CISOs should structure their approach around three connected steps:

1. Replace the snapshot with a signal: Treat accreditation as a starting point rather than an ongoing guarantee, and pair it with real-time behavioral risk monitoring that flags change as it happens, including new AI capabilities introduced without a corresponding review.
2. Tie detection directly to containment: Ensure a risk-score change triggers automated access review immediately, rather than producing an alert that sits in a queue for someone to action later.
3. Restrict access at the moment risk changes: Build the capability to revoke or limit access the moment a participant's risk profile shifts, not months later at the next scheduled review.
